Oils Landscape Work In Progress

I began this oil painting July, 2006. Yesterday, I decided to work on it more to practice painting with oils which is such a challenge as the oils stay wet. This 24" x 12" painting also gives me a chance to practice trees and the ground changes in values and color.

Still Life 3 Update

I decided to add another grape, lighten the foreground and change the flower a bit. I also worked on the ellipse of the glass base. This 12" x 16" painting as been listed for auction until February 4th, with Art By Us

Still Life Work In Progress

One thing the power outage really brought home to me is the habit I have of starting the day being glued to reading e-mails and what is happening in the art forums. It felt great to actually pick up a brush and energize my brain and body!

Charity Auction
Check out my Art By Us listing of the Seascape 2 acrylic painting. It is a charity auction with a percentage of the sale donated to the Greater New Port Richey Main Street/Progress Energy Art Gallery. Its mission is to promote the growth of the Arts & Culture in the City of New Port Richey and surrounding areas by providing a well-regarded community center for local and regional artists to exhibit and sell their work, through education of and assistance for artists in business matters, and education of the public as to the diversity of our Fine Artists and the importance of supporting the Arts in our community.

Sketch after Sargent painting "Rosina"

5" x 7" graphite sketch after John Singer Sargent's "Rosina".
I was viewing John Singer Sargent's paintings and was overwhelmed with the beauty of his painting "Rosina". This photo is a better version than the photo I have as it shows her face and hair more clearly as well as the front of her skirt.

Glass & Grapes Sketch

Another sketch of the glass, this time with grapes. The photo of the sketch has a reddish cast which I rather like. Now to set up a still life similar to the reference photo from Wet Canvas. The still life set up gives shapes of shades and shadows not noticeably apparent in a photo.

Sunday, Jan. 14th

I took this photograph outside this morning (01-16-07) then darkened the exposure to show what it would look like in normal room lighting.
I'm calling this one finished finally! (01-14-07)

I'm still working on the seascape painting. I've decided this painting is really a learning canvas. I try different things/methods, some work, some don't.
Today is the perfect day to paint as we have light ice on the fence rails and it is misting. Areas West of us have so much ice it looks like snow. Luckily we have been on the edge of the storm. I feel for all those people who have been without power and heat at different times throughout the weekend.

Seascape Art - Acrylic Painting

01-01-07 I kept looking at this painting and there were areas I wasn't happy with. I would work on one area then another area would have to be adjusted. Anyway here is how it looks today.

Happy New Year! My celebration consisted of finishing this painting.
Here is a close up of the couple in the distance.

This closeup is of the figure in the foreground. I used a photo of my son-in-law as reference.
