Watercolor Landscape using gesso

This painting began when I gessoed over a watercolor painting. I layed wax paper over the gesso and let that dry. Once it dried, I began laying in paint but the paint kept beading up so it must have been the wax. So I began applying more gesso and painting with watercolor into it. Sometimes I would let it dry, other times I would work with it wet.

This has such interesting texture, Ann! (I hate to ask this, but which painting did you gesso over? lol!)

I can't remember which painting I gessoed over, Deb. But yes, the roses were gessoed if that is what you are wondering lol. One can create some great textures using gesso and want to try building up textures for a main group of trees while the background trees are smoother, less detailed. Should be fun to try.
