Rose, Watercolor
Rose
Sold 6" x 9" Watercolor
I can honestly say this is one of the first roses with which I am pretty happy. Painted from a reference photo taken a few years ago of the trelli roses outside my door.
It's a lovely painting--grays of the background and the muted greens are as beautiful as the red of the roses; and you did a great job on the lace--really, I find that so hard to "do" and not "overdo"!

the red of those roses looks indeed awesome Ann, just lush!
The petals look very creamy and soft, Ann :) Is this the one you painted from the notan exercise?
Laura, thank you for all of your comments. :) I enjoyed visiting your blog. Your watercolors are fresh and lively which I like very much.
Teresa, thanks! :) The reds may be a bit more saturated in the photo than IRL but it is close.
Thanks, Rhonda. It is the same flowers and vase but a different photo reference than the one used for the NOTAN.
I sure like your approach to this painting. The reds against the grays are a knockout.
Hi Ann...love your red flowers and the background here, very well done. The leaves are also great!
Thanks, Gary, appreciate your comments. :)
Thank you Fabio. :)
