Joyce Portrait
In Loving Memory of my sister
Joyce 5" x 7" Oils on Panel
The reference photo I used had her in a suit but I changed it to a t-shirt as she was a very athletic person at one time. She loved sports of all kinds.
It brought a tear to my eye too! You did a wonderful job on this and makes me think how I often thought of doing a portrait of my brother (who died in 1996). I have been somewhat afraid to even try it..because I just know I can't do him "justice"..but you hit this out of the park. Home run. You and she look a lot alike.
All of you, thank you for your comments, your kindness. I wish I had really captured the look of her.
Celeste, I was sad to hear of the loss of your brother and know you still feel the loss. I hope sometime soon you decide to begin the portrait of your brother. It could turn out just the way you want it to. Painting Joyce's portrait brought to mind her mannerisms, her espressions, and so many memories.
wow.. what a beautiful painting.. joyce's personality just shines thru, in this painting.. what a fantastic way to honor her and her memory... this is outstanding you can see the love and the time, that went into it... hugs..
Sister Shirley "Ann", what wonderful thoughts your friends said about our sister Joyce. The beautiful painting you did of our precious sister will keep her with us, as if all seven is still together. Love Skw
Hi Sharon, Glad you liked the portrait. You know by now I've scraped it down and will paint it again. Still trying to get that likeness that says Joyce. Hugs!
