Ever had a painting go South on you? Silly question, isn't it. I know it happens to me a lot but it doesn't stop me from appreciating the parts of the painting that did work and it won't be long before I try again. I am thinking of reworking this painting using acrylics to cover the muddy colors. I am wondering if the paper is too "tired" or to overworked to make the skin tones look smooth. Hope you will stay tuned.

I would think acrylics would be able to perk this up - of course, it may not be as bad as you think (you know you are hard on yourself!).
Believe me, Rhonda, it is bad ha ha. A well scrubbed look to the paper that even acrylics might not be able to salvage. Not to worry though as I do plan to paint him again although it will be later on, after I do the salvage job. Need a change, so will paint something else now. :)
I loved the initial start. I can't imagine it really went too muddy. But, it we are all so hard on ourselves. Maybe you will try again later if you get the itch.
Liana, thank you for the visit to this blog and taking time to comment. I've taken a break from portraits but will be doing them again. I love those daffodils in your blog.
