Garden Onions
9 1/2" x 14"
Watercolor
As mentioned in a previous post, the reference photo used for this painting is by Scitzo from the Wet Canvas Reference Image Library. This is painted on 15 1/2" x 22 1/2" Twinrocker watercolor paper with the image size cropped to 9 1/2" x 14". I went back in and added more saturated colors to the ground and the onions. I rather lost it in some areas adding a bit to much of the darks between the greens of the onions.

You MAY be right about the darks, but it is a very appealing painting.
Loving contrast, I don't think the darks are too dark. The painting is lovely. I can feel the earth when I look at your ground. Very nice.
This is beautiful and I love your shadows! I also love the burnt sienna-ish color in the background- very nice.
This is beautiful Ann - the rich dark colours are perfect for the subject matter I reckon. The highlights on the onions draw the eye nicely.
I have been watching your progression with this painting and was wondering the outcome. All I can say is wow! You have made a simple garden veggie...well, simply interesting! I think the darks add an element of drama that actually make the onions!
Absolutely fantastic, Ann.
I think its just perfect! xx
I love going to wetcanvas and finding photos to paint from. It's like searching for treasure when you find a cool one! Lovely painting!
Beautiful job on this, Ann :)
Thank you, everyone! As you already know, you are appreciated. :)
Very good job. Brings me back to the days when as a kid I grew up with large gardens. Great job!
Thank you, Novice Artist. I visited your blog and I am so excited for you with all that you have to look forward to in your art journey. Good luck and happy painting.
I love the warm/cool combination of colors that make the onions pop.
Thank you, Deborah. Happy you like the color combos.
